Useful software

This is a list of useful software that I use or that I recommend to use. Somethimes I update it, so you can come here anytime.

Firefox + extensions:

• Firefox (the best web browser available -IE should DIE-)
• Adblock (banners/ads/shit blocker)
• Bookmarks Synchronizer
• Prefbar
• chromEdit (extension for geeks)
• ieview (properties entry to open actual page in IE)
• googlebar + hide searchbar
• Tabbrowser Preferences (automatically open links in new tabs: else -without this extension- you have to click with the middle mouse button on links to be opened in new tabs)
• undoclosetab
• miniT (lets you drag and change tabs position)
• BBCodeXtra (lets you access bbcode with the right mouse click in the forums that don’t have the appropriate bbcode buttons)

Firefox, other interesting resources:

• Extension Room: a site providing lots of extensions
• Plugins: Quicktime alternative, real alternative, windows media
• Firefox Profile backup (and restore)

Thunderbird +extensions:

• Thunderbird (e-mail client much better than Outlook Express!)
• Thunderbird Attachment Tools

Various internet programs:

• CuteFTP Pro (FTP & SFTP client)
• Miranda IM 0.4 alpha (multi-protocol instant messenger)
• MSN protocol for Miranda IM
• Messenger Plus (MSN Messenger customizer/enhancer)
• WinSCP (SFTP client)

Vocal Chat programs:

• Skype (VERY EASY to use, very high quality, but high bandwidth and CPU usage)
• TeamSpeak (bad quality, not easy to use, but low bandwidth and CPU usage)
• Ventrilo (not easy to use, but has very good quality and low bandwidth usage -for gaming purposes I recommend Ventrilo-)

Security:

• AVG free edition (free antivirus, not heavy as Norton -by the way: norton antivirus is CRAP-)
• The Cleaner (trojan remover)
• Pest Patrol 4.4 Professional (spyware/malware/trojan/etc. remover)

Peer-to-peer/leeching programs:

• eMule Plus (enhanced eMule -note: for linux I use aMule-)
• BitTorrent (to find something to leech: http://isohunt.com)
