On 12.12.12 I had filed a YouTube feedback at:

that YouTube shall remember a user’s recently chosen playlist sort order.
And in the recent days, somewhen in March 2013, this function was implemented! I am happy!
Likely this means, that your script can now be retired, but it’s good to have it, should YouTube remove it again at a later time.
